Starting May 1st if you are in downtown Toronto you will likely being seeing a fleet of the new Eco Cabs. Their fleet consists of 28 and they are pedal powered taxis with rechargable batteries. They can reach a top speed of 12 km/hour. The Eco Cab cost about 13,000 a piece and are said to offer a comfortable and smooth ride. The best part besides being enviromentaly friendly, they are free. They are entirely supported by advertising. They will be offering short trips to special events, festivals and in between shopping areas. Hats off to Toronto for making a great stride in "green travel".
