USB Stick and Bottle Opener

Tag:

USB Thumb Drive Bottle OpenerWhat's the point of carrying around a thumb drive with you all day if it can only store your data? TrekStor feels your pain and have come out with a USB thumb drive that can also open bottles. You can also connect to your key chain for safe keeping. So if you are out slugging beers and need to show somebody your photos you can do both.

It's not the first thumb drive with a bottle opener released but the advantage with the new stylish combo from TrekStor is that it’s available in sizes ranging from 1GB up to 16GB.

The Trekstor has data transfer speeds of 25 MB/s and 12 MB/s, and is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Mac OS X, Linux, and Kernel 2.6x. You should be able to get the 1GB version for about $10, and the 16GB version for about $71.

Centrios Wireless Optical Mouse

Tags: , ,

Centrios Wireless Optical MouseI just picked up one of these over the weekend from The Source. It was on sale for $20, not a bad deal for a wireless optical mouse. My thoughts, it's nice and small and the usb stick and mouse connect with one another with no problems at all. The mouse is working perfect on the three tables we are using our laptop on so it's nice and smooth with no problems at all. We are not using a mouse pad. If you look at the front that black shiny part is where the USB stick goes when not using it so you have no fear of losing it. It just pops out when you push the silver button on top. The only draw is that it takes two AAA batteries so I am not sure how long they will last, we have rechargeables so it's not an issue. For $20, you can beat it.

MSI Wind U100

MSI Wind U100

It’s been almost a year since the original Asus Eee 701 appeared stateside, making traditional ultra-portables look fat with its size and weight, sending prices plunging with its $400 price tag, and triggering a landslide of imitators. In that time, many have tried, but few have succeeded in one upping Asus at its own game. The Wind is MSI’s freshman effort in the emerging subnotebook genre, but the company has managed to run with the best of them by offering a 10-inch display, a fast and efficient Intel Atom processor, and loads of storage.

Logitech V550 Nano Clip and Go Mouse

Tags: ,

Logitech has just released a new wireless mouse called the V550 Nano. Which uses a tiny USB receiver that you can leave plugged into your notebook USB port without worrying about it snapping off.

Logitech V550 Nano Clip and Go Mouse
Also, you can dock the mouse to your notebook using the provided clip that you see there. Its apparently easy to attach and easy to remove, although I'm not sure what kind of stickum is used to provide said adhesion.

Clip-and-Go dock: Allows you to clip your mouse to your notebook and go. Easy-to-attach, easy-to-remove dock is compatible with all notebooks. (To learn more, please click the video tutorial link located on the right side of this page.) Now, you’ll have one less thing to carry.

Plug-and-Forget Nano-receiver: Barely larger than a coin, the Nano-receiver is so small that once you plug it into your notebook, you can forget about it. Your mouse is always ready to use.

The idea here, according to Logitech, is that you will have one less thing to carry from room to room. This mouse takes the idea of portability to a whole new level because it clips to your notebook. I see. And the price for portability-leveling? It's $59.99.

Luxeed Dynamic Pixel LED Keyboard

LED Color Keyboard

No doubt, the Luxeed Dynamic Pixel LED Keyboard is more exciting than its mouthful-of-a-name suggests. That’s because it literally lights up its keys with bright colors. Two colors are available. The white one lets all of the color shine through, while the black lets the chromatic beauty peek through the key font. We’d have ignored this LED keyboard, if it weren’t possible to actually customize the color arrangement through the bundled software, nor if it was impossible to quickly switch between up to 4 arrangements via the 4 special buttons to the top of the arrow keys. This means the keyboard will appeal to aesthetes and gamers alike. Starving artists will probably waste time coming up with creative patterns through the customization software. And giving specific keys a different color is sure to be useful for anybody relying on deadly combos to wipe out the virtual opposition.

Some practical specifics: 15″ x 7.5″ x 1″ (width by length by thickness). Customization software works only on Windows XP or Vista. The keyboard costs $200, but lacks a numeric keypad—which is available as an add-on for $35. (thinkgeek.com)

The Bentley laptop

Cars and laptops have merged to produce a rather tasty laptop treat for those who can afford a new computer in the region of £10,000. The car in question is the Bentley, the laptop is the ever plush Ego - both of which are associated with high class-ness, extravagance and plenty of 'look at me, look at me'. Normal folk, don't fret, we hear Asus are giving the Eee PC 701 a makeover. A luxury product boasts luxury production and this is no exception. The Ego Bentley laptop is hand-built, with authentic Bentley cross-over hand stitching with a colour scheme to match.

Toshiba Satellite M300-S1002X

Toshiba Satellite M300-S1002X

Toshiba’s latest business notebook, the M300, won’t blow your hair back with whiz-bang features and record-shattering performance, but it’s a very solid package that covers all the basics one needs in a laptop that’s somewhere between an ultra-portable and a desktop replacement. This 14.1” notebook is tastefully appointed in a Titanium Silver finish, weighs just 5.2lbs, and has one of the best keyboards we’ve ever sampled in a notebook. Though its trialware issues and long boot time are easily remedied, its lack of security features –either biometric or facial recognition – are disappointing on a laptop aimed at business users. Overall it’s still a surprisingly well-polished machine that is extremely affordable and easy to live with.

Toshiba Laptops with Cell Derived Chips

Tag:

Toshiba LaptopsToshiba will present its Qosmio G50 and F40 laptops that feature the chip SpursEngine SE1000, which has four of the 'Synergistic Processing Elements' from the Cell Broadband Engine processor, in July in Japan. The PlayStation 3 runs the Cell chip that has eight of the SPE cores and a Power PC main processor. These SPE cores implement the heavy number-crunching, but we get an outstanding result - the console's graphics are excellent. The laptops' chip will perform its functions in the same way.
