Solar Jacket

Tag:

Solar JacketFree energy is always attractive but at what price? In this case the price is wearing a pretty ugly looking solar jacket that charges your electronic devices on the go (and we thought that the spy jacket by Paul Coudamy was bad).

The Solar Jacket, designed by the think-bods at North Carolina State University uses a method called digital textile printing in order to integrate solar cells into clothing by matching the printing pattern to that of solar panels.

You can safely charge your devices using the clothes or bags on which the solar panel is printed on without getting an electric shock. However, could you safely walk down the street without getting ridiculed? Debatable….

Air Conditioned Office Chairs

Tags: ,

In the heat of summer, even the most air conditioned office cubicle can be a bit stuffy due to the stress of work and almost always, even with the A/C set to full blast the nether regions of an office worker’s body can get quite stuffy even without that hot secretary walking by. So that makes the Suzukaze Air Conditioned Seat Cushion required office equipment for just about any worker drone, right up there with the cool split keyboard.

Translates to English for “cool breeze,” the Suzukaze seat cushion not only keeps one’s “bum” elevated from the chair so cold air could come in directly from underneath, but it also includes a battery powered fan which will draw air into the cushion chamber in order to cool the user even faster.

The idea came to engineers who believe that by targeting specific parts of the body susceptible to heat, the body would remain cooler naturally and air conditioner use would be reduced, thereby saving energy. And with rechargeable batteries, the cost of powering the Suzukaze is just pennies a month on average.

There are three variants of the Suzukaze, the High Grade variant which has dual-layer Super Spacer material and a touch sensitive switch which can turn the fan on or off, the basic model sans fan, and a car version which connects to a car’s power adapter. Add a solar charger and this puppy could cool anyone with a window office off the grid.

Dry Water Jet Massager

Tag:

dry-water-jet-massageThere is nothing quite like washing yourself down after a long, hard day at work. Of course, if you happen to be one of the top earners in your industry, hosing down in a normal shower just won’t do. Enter the Dry Water Jet Massager.

Used at five-star resort spas, this device provides a full-body water jet massage without getting you wet, and uses aromatherapy, relaxing audio, and video to soothe your tactile, olfactory, auditory, and optical senses. While your head rests comfortably on a headrest outside of the unit, 28 nozzles inside the canopy deliver precise, invigorating streams of water that replicate the principles of shiatsu, or “finger pressure” massage, as they strike the pliable polymer sheet that provides a waterproof barrier between you and the nozzles (allowing use while completely clothed). Controlled by 28 microprocessors, the pulsating water jets relieve sore muscles and joints from your shoulders to your ankles, faithfully recreating the deep-penetrati ng percussion techniques favored by professional massage therapists. You can adjust the water pressure, temperature (75° to 105° F), and pulse intervals (2 to 10 cycles per second), and program the device to concentrate on specific muscle groups with a touch of the LCD control panel. The sloping headrest has a massage-table style face opening that allows you to lie prone and watch the integrated 7″ LCD screen with DVD player in comfort. You can connect an iPod or CD player and listen to your music of choice via the included headphones from Bose. Incorporating the 6,000 year old practice of aromatherapy, the unit has an integrated aroma diffuser that releases subtle scents from essential oils that can enhance your mood and promote relaxation.

When I mentioned “top earner” earlier in the post, I really mean so. After all, how many of us are able to install a $29,500 at home without having to go through the missus’ approval?

Smell Alarm Clock

Tags: ,

Smell Alarm ClockNow here is an concept novelty alarm clock. The Osim Nioi Alarm Clock by Alfie Lake will wake you up by emitting the smell of freshly baked bread. The smells come in a pressurized cartridge that are released at the time you set on the clock to wake up. It's a pretty neat concept really. I wonder if you how many different smells they have available something like freshly brewed coffee or maple syrup and bacon would be a killer.

According to the source the Osim Nioi Alarm Clock can also spray secents to get you to sleep faster. Imagine falling asleep to lavender or mint. It sounds like it's not commercially available yet but when I hear more news I will let you know.

The Solarjo Power Purse

Tag:

Fashion and solar panels don’t exactly blend well.  A solar panel is of course important to keep your gadgets charged in an eco-friendly way.  However, most of the time you’re going to have to sacrifice your fashion sense to have a solar-powered bag.  There are a few good brands out there that do make an effort to keep their bags stylish, yet this is the first that features a smaller design that I’ve seen.  Most solar bags are larger totes or book bags.  Which those are nice for someone that is on the go so much that they have to carry around a lot of stuff.  Yet, something smaller like this would probably appeal to a great deal of women.

Not everyone wants a large bulky bag, although that is what I tend to prefer.  Sometimes, it’s still nice to keep things minimal.  Which means carrying a solar purse that only carries a couple items.  This purse was actually designed a full three years ago by Joe Hynek.  Don’t worry this isn’t old news just yet though, since the bag will actually be finally making its debut by the end of this year.  The purse takes two hours to charge and once it’s charged, it can stay that way for up to a month.  As of now the price is projected to be set at $285, there is always the chance that could fluctuate though.

Sakku Solar Bags

Tag:

Although solar bags are nice since they charge up all of our little gadgets through the sun.  Not all of them are made out of the greatest materials.  It’s always nice to come across a solar bag that is all around good for the environment.  As opposed to just having the solar element going for it.  Well this line of bags from Sakku uses old sails for the material of the bag itself.

Biro Lamp keeps track of your pens

Tag:

biro-lamp-thumb-200x212

Offices have a way about making pens disappear. In my mind of course there is always some chuckling little imp with a gold earing in one of his over sized green ears that is chuckling in the corner with my pen. The one pen I need to write down some extremely important phone number. Okay so it’s quite possible that I’m one of the many that would lose their head if it wasn’t attached. That is just so much less interesting than a mischievous imp. If you have similar issues be it with absent mindedness or a sneaky little imp, a pen lamp might be the way to keep your pens nearby.

It would leave them in plain sight and make them a part of your décor. Therefore would make you more likely to put the pen back. I would probably just end up having a lamp that looked stripped down with only one or two remaining pens. Then again it takes skill and practice to get to where I’m at. This lamp was designed by enPieza! Studio. All of the pens are in working condition and when you lose a bunch you can easily reattach a new one.
