The new style promotional USB stick can come in many different shapes and storage sizes. Also now increasingly many people have being buying novelty style USB sticks.

For example you can get a USB pen that looks just like a piece of Lego; this would be ideal for any school children who need to take their work to school with them. It could be easily attached to the inside of their school bag. Equally if are worried about your child losing their USB stick because they can be quite careless. You could have peace of mind by getting them a USB flash band. This bracelet, which anyone can wear, would mean the person could wear it around their wrist and forget about the risk of losing it from their bag etc. Also they would not forget to take it with them as they could wear it on their wrist all day.

Equally if you are thinking about smart storage for your USB stick you could also opt for a card style USB which is the same size as a credit card. This way it would simply slot into your wallet or purse and you would always know where it is.

Or if you are looking for the ultimate novelty gift for someone you could get them a USB stick that looks exactly like a twig, this is for all the people out there with a sense of humor.

There really is one for everyone and to suit all personalities; it is just a case of finding the right one.

For those of you that think ninjas are the ultimate warriors, here’s a USB drive to show off your point of view. Although this drive isn’t exactly something you should probably slip past airport security, it would be a cool drive to keep at home. You can about guarantee that you’ll end up paying a lot more just to get your ninja themed USB drive, but I could see it being worth it for a few.

It’s not for everyone, but even for those that can’t afford it. You have to admit if you had the cash, you’d probably consider buying it. The drive will only hold a whopping 2GB of your data on it, which really isn’t much. Especially when you consider how much cash you’ll end up forking out for this. It’s definitely a novelty drive and an expensive one at that. You’ll end up paying ¥ 11,500.00 or about $126 from Geek Stuff 4U.

If you want top-up your cuteness points then the WALL-E USB Thumb Drive will give you 1000+ bonus points straight off the bat. At 8GB it’s not only trading on its cuteness, it’s actually useful too.

The WALL-E USB Thumb Drive even comes holding a fire extinguisher. For those of us who haven’t seen the WALL-E movie, this holds absolutely no significance whatsoever. For those of you who have seen the move +100 to those cuteness points (even cuter than the cat-paw USB drive).

You can grab the WALL-E USB Thumb Drive from etsy via craftsman sgedra for $65. Unfortuneatley there is currently only one in stock so by the time you read this post it might bee too late (-1000 cute points).

TrekStor feels your pain and have come out with a USB thumb drive that can also open bottles. You can also connect to your key chain for safe keeping. So if you are out slugging beers and need to show somebody your photos you can do both.

It's not the first thumb drive with a bottle opener released but the advantage with the new stylish combo from TrekStor is that it’s available in sizes ranging from 1GB up to 16GB.

The Trekstor has data transfer speeds of 25 MB/s and 12 MB/s, and is compatible with Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Mac OS X, Linux, and Kernel 2.6x. You should be able to get the 1GB version for about $10, and the 16GB version for about $71.

Worms aren’t exactly positive stuff when it comes to the world of computing, but SanDisk has decided to name its latest SD card as the SD WORM card. The main reason behind the acronym? WORM stands for Write Once Read Many, and will target professional uses including police investigations, court testimony, electronic voting and other applications where it is imperative that data files must be protected from alteration or deletion at all costs. After all, it is much easier to modify analog recording media such as film and audio tape (which are going the way of the dodo by the way, if they haven’t yet done so already), leading to a rise in demand for a suitable solution where digital devices are concerned. Unfortunately, standard rewritable memory cards do not live up to legal requirements to prevent data tampering, hence the need for the SanDisk SD WORM card.

According to SanDisk, any digital data written to SanDisk SD WORM cards are effectively locked the moment it is recorded; leaving absolutely no physical way to alter or delete individual recorded files. Good thing you don’t need another card adapter to read this since any conventional SD memory card reader is able to do the job. SanDisk SD WORM cards also come with a 100-year archive life under appropriate storage conditions, of course. Some of the more interesting applications for the SanDisk SD WORM card include :-

Police photography and witness/suspect interviews, where courts require proof that photos and audio recordings are genuine

Court proceedings, such as trials and depositions

Electronic voting, where recorded votes must be tamper-proof

Cash registers which record transactions for tax collection purposes

Event recorders, such as security cameras and “black box” flight-data recorders

Medical devices which retain individual patient treatment data

Personal digital assistants (PDAs) and similar devices used by physicians and other health-care professionals to track patient interactions

SanDisk SD WORM cards are readily available in 128MB capacity, although it is widely expected that the paltry amount of storage space will be increased in due time.

The infected HP USB Floppy Drive Key is a combination flash drive and compact floppy drive made for their ProLiant Server line. They believe that they drive was installed at the factory.
