Nintendo’s Wii Wireless Router

Tags: , ,

True, the Nintendo’s Wii Wireless RouterNintendo Wii is set up for wireless gaming, but unless you have a router, it’s pretty much nigh useless. Except for the new Mario Kart game, the Wii’s online gaming capability has been pretty much untapped. It’s not like Xbox, where most players do Halo online for several hours.

I can’t remember the last time I was playing some online game on the Wii for that long. In order to compete in the ever-growing online gaming industry, the Nintendo Wii will have to put out more games that can be played online. I suppose a router designed for it is just the next logical step.

As you can see, the Wii router is designed to match your Nintendo Wii and even comes in that wonderful Wii white. You can also see it has all the ports you need for the setup.

Unfortunately, it appears to be available only in Japan. Why isn’t it being marketed all over the world? Who knows. Considering the rarity of the Wii, perhaps they want to make the accessory even more rare.

If you really want this router, and you are in Japan, you should be able to purchase it for about $50 and they went on sale September 18th.

Sony PS3 Wireless Headset

Tags: ,

Sony PS3 wireless headsetSony will be rolling out its Wireless Headset for the PS3 console at the end of October - in Japan, at least, bringing an immersive online communication experience for gamers who are rocking to new gaming titles that support the online chat feature. These titles include SOCOM: Confrontation, Resistance 2 and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift.

Offering simple operation and accessible voice chat on PS3, this sleek and compact Wireless Headset is an ear hook type headset, designed to fit either ear. Installed with Bluetooth, it pairs automatically with PS3 by simply using the bundled USB cable. The inner ear phone speaker of the new Headset along with the noise cancelling feature when in High Quality mode delivers stable, superior sound. Additionally, the bundled cradle can be used to charge the battery which will allow maximum of eight hours of voice chat when fully charged. While the Headset is connected to PS3, it will support on-screen indicator showing the headset connection status, battery charge level, speaker volume level and microphone mute status at a push of a button.  You will have to fork out 5,000 yen for this baby, but think of the coolness factor that comes along with it.

Xbox 360 Arcade Station T2

Tag:
XBox360 Arcade

Here is something every little boy needs in their home, or every other 30-40 something that is hooked on the XBox360. A full sized arcade version that should be released for home consumption over the next couple of months. One of the only knocks so far are those gaddly Xbox controllers sticking out like a sore thumb. I guess Quasimoto Interactive didn't want to put something nicer like a joystick on it. It's currently being tested and if I hear anything more I will be sure to let you know.

My question, how do you return it when you get the red circle of death after 10 hours of play? Time will tell.

60% Drop out rate for Wii fit Players

Tags: ,

WiiFitLooks like those games looking to trim the fact are no different than those that join a gym or buy a membership. Microsoft’s vice president of Xbox says around 60% of Wii fit players don’t return to the game. “What Nintendo have done with the Wii is truly fantastic - there is no question about it. But I think sometimes there is a thin line between gimmick and great gameplay,” said Gosen.

He continued: “We’ve seen some research that says 60 per cent of people who bought a Wii Fit play it once and don’t play it again. So we have to get the balance right, because what we are doing is bringing new consumers into the market for the first time in their lives sometimes - and we have to treat them with respect. And at the end of the day that comes back down to creativity. We have to ensure that the peripheral strategy that anyone employs makes sense and delivers a truly game changing experience.”

Those number are not far off of how many people join gyms and then stop using their membership soon after.

Hendrix Hits Guitar Hero According to Gamespot, Activision has secured what might be the ultimate Guitar Hero score – it’s secured the right to a number of Hendrix master tracks for the forthcoming Guitar Hero: World Tour. The first two cuts – “Purple Haze” and “Wind Cries Mary” will be made available for download after the game’s launch. The only time Hendrix has appeared in the game before was an instrumental cover of “Spanish Castle Magic.” Activision has also secured content from the Eagles and Van Halen. Activision also announced that World Tour will be compatible not only with existing Guitar Hero instruments, but also those from Rock Band.

GPS on Sony PSP

Tags: ,

GPS Sony PSPAbout the only video game gadget I don't have in the house is a Sony PSP. The more I hear about it the more I am liking it. Not only can you use it for video games, as a media player and for surfing the internet but in the not so distant future you will be able to use it as GPS System.  Here's the skinny as being reported on the net today. It is expected to hit the market in the U.S. within the next 12 months. Map will be coming from TeleAtlas and some cities will be with 3D buildings. The price will be between $100 and $200. Looks neat and I will keep you informed when news gets released.

Xbox 360 Blu-Ray Console Rumors

XBox 360 Blu-RaySince the death of HD DVD's there have been rumor flying around the net that Microsoft is going to release a blu-ray version of the Xbox360, some MS has flat out denied.

"Chinese newspaper reporting that Pegatron – a Taiwan-based OEM partner of Asus – has taken orders from Microsoft to manufacture Xbox 360s with built-in Blu-ray Disc ROM drive. Economic Daily News (Chinese) reports that Pegatron is expected to start shipping Blu-ray enabled Xbox 360s this autumn."

I will keep you posted  on this story, I wonder how many red ring of death 360's I will be on before this happens?

GTA IV Gamers Report Game Freezes

Tags: ,

Grand Theft Auto IVI was waiting for this story to break. If you have bought a video game in the last two years for PS3 or Xbox360 you know one thing, it's going to freeze. My Tiger Woods 08 that I shelled out $60 for constantly locks up and freezes. Well you guessed it GTAIV users are reporting that the game is constantly freezing or locking up. Sources indicate that most of the freezing has been on the PS3 platform but has also been reported on the 360. When is a patch coming to solve the problem? Nobody can say at this point, we are only a couple of days into the game and Rockstar isn't sure exactly what the problem is as it seem to be sporadic at best. Stay tuned for more stories as they are released.
