One of the unique selling points of Microsoft's Windows Phone mobile operating system is its Xbox LIVE support. Microsoft is the manufacturer of Xbox consoles, which are enormously successful, and it has included Xbox LIVE support on its mobile OS in order to win people over to Windows Phone 7.

Launched in 2010, Windows Phone has so far not proven to be quite as popular as the Xbox console. This is not due to any intrinsic flaw in Windows Phone, but simply because most people who own smartphones have already sworn their allegiance either to Android or the iPhone.

In order to capitalize on the success of its games consoles Microsoft is launching an Xbox LIVE app for iOS devices, including the iPhone and iPad. My Xbox LIVE will not diminish demand for Windows Phones, as the app does not include the same full functionality as the Xbox LIVE support on WP7.

With the app iPhone users can edit their Xbox profile, edit their friends list and also compare achievements with other players. Unlike Xbox on Windows Phone, users cannot interact with content on their console or play games, but My Xbox LIVE should give iPhone owners a taster of the Xbox features of Windows Phone. On top of this, the app has been designed to have the look and feel of Windows Phone, allowing iPhone owners to become more familiar with the Microsoft mobile OS. Although Windows Phone has its own loyal following, most people are simply not aware of the operating system, how it works or what it has to offer.

Similarly, Microsoft recently launched an online simulation of Windows Phone for Android and iPhone users to experiment with on their touchscreen phones. This simulation was designed to allow people a glimpse of what using Windows Phone is actually like.

There are probably a great number of iPhone owners who are also dedicated Xbox gamers, and Microsoft is hoping to appeal to these people with My Xbox LIVE. Even so, Microsoft has its work cut out as the iPhone has developed a bit of a reputation within the smartphone industry as being a decent gaming device in its own right. The latest iPhone 4S comes with a dual core GPU that offers high quality graphics, as well as Game Center that provides a similar social gaming experience to Xbox LIVE. The fact that Windows Phone users can mix their smartphone and console gaming could be enough to draw these people away from the iPhone.

These recent attempts by Microsoft to raise the profile of Windows Phone come after the launch of the Lumia 800 and the start of what will be a long and fruitful partnership with Nokia producing Windows Phones. This could be indicative of what Microsoft and Nokia have planned for the New Year, with the Lumia 800 perhaps just being the tip of the iceberg.

After a long wait my new Turtle Beach Ear Force PX21 Gaming Headset for PlayStation 3 finally arrived in the mail today. You couldn't find an easier set of head phones to set up. I had them up in running in about two minutes. Plug the RCA jacks into your TV, plug the USB port into your PS3, change a couple of settings in the PS3 menu and you are on your way to enjoying gaming like you never have before.

I am a big COD MW2 player and I have heard sounds today that I have never heard before. It's changed the way I am playing the game. With one switch of the button you can get sounds from the right and left so you can hear the enemy sneaking up on you or hear a sniper gun go off in the distance and know what side of the map it is coming from. The microphone is flexible and easy to put out of your way if you don't want to use it. Unfortunately the PX21 Headset can't do anything about the PS3 and it's awful voip.

They are light, comfortable and pack great sound. What more can you want? I am even watching the Detroit/Phoenix game and am getting annoyed by sounds of fans banging on the glass. That's how good they are so far. Don't get hung up about them being wired. There is enough cord to keep you happy.

Here are just a few of the features:

Universal headset for PS3 & XBOX 360 & PC or Mac Hear stereo game sound together with PlayStation Network & XBOX LIVE or online chat Stereo expander widens the sound field to accentuate left and right sound cues

Variable Bass Boost enhances the reality and depth of explosions gun blasts and other deep sounds

Chat Boost automatically increases incoming chat level when the game gets louder Game sound is isolated so online players won't hear the game picked up by your mic

Separate volume controls make it easy to balance game and chat levels Mic monitor lets you hear what you're saying A single USB connection provides power – no AC adapters necessary

Heart-Thumping Bass Boost

Read the complete specifications: Ear Force PX21 Gaming Headset for Playstation 3

Here is something every little boy needs in their home, or every other 30-40 something that is hooked on the XBox360. A full sized arcade version that should be released for home consumption over the next couple of months. One of the only knocks so far are those gaddly Xbox controllers sticking out like a sore thumb. I guess Quasimoto Interactive didn't want to put something nicer like a joystick on it. It's currently being tested and if I hear anything more I will be sure to let you know.

My question, how do you return it when you get the red circle of death after 10 hours of play? Time will tell.

Microsoft’s vice president of Xbox says around 60% of Wii fit players don’t return to the game. “What Nintendo have done with the Wii is truly fantastic – there is no question about it. But I think sometimes there is a thin line between gimmick and great gameplay,” said Gosen.

He continued: “We’ve seen some research that says 60 per cent of people who bought a Wii Fit play it once and don’t play it again. So we have to get the balance right, because what we are doing is bringing new consumers into the market for the first time in their lives sometimes – and we have to treat them with respect. And at the end of the day that comes back down to creativity. We have to ensure that the peripheral strategy that anyone employs makes sense and delivers a truly game changing experience.”

Those number are not far off of how many people join gyms and then stop using their membership soon after.

Good thing Microsoft has decided to introduce a little bit of color into Xbox 360 owners’ lives thanks to a bright red and equally flashy green controller hitting the market on September 30. The former will come bundled with a play and charge kit, while the latter is a standalone device, retailing for $65 and $55, respectively.

This Xbox 360 price drop is yet another snub to Sony’s Playstation 3 which is still hideously expensive and is losing a huge amount of market share to gamers.

It seems that the new Xbox 360 price drop could be a real danger to Sony’s dominance brought in by the Playstation 2, unfortunately it seems Sony have not learnt from previous success, and Microsoft has learnt from their failure.

In the original PS2 vs Xbox war Sony won by having a huge array of games available on a relatively cheap console. This time however Microsoft was prepared as it brought out a cheaper console, earlier and with more games. Sony on the other hand brought out the PlayStation 3 6 months later, it was expensive and there was a disappointing number of games,

Now however with the Latest XBox 360 Price Cut it seems Sony will be sent off licking its wounds, as the price of the Xbox 360 console drops well below the price of a mobile phone.

While the xBox 360 price cut has not yet been confirmed by Microsoft officially it seems many people who normally have the inside scoop are well are of the fact and have staked their reputations on it. All I can say is Wehey! Bring on the cheaper console!!
