I usually end up sitting in front of my television either banging the control off of the couch or taking the back off of the remote and twisting the batteries around until they start working again. The latter seems to work quite a bit for some reason. Getting off of the couch to fetch some fresh batteries would just not be right. Too much energy. Now it looks like you don't have to anymore.

I have a wind up radio that would use a pile of power to operate and it lasts for about 10 minutes after winding her a good one. I can't imagine a remote using a ton of power once it gets charged. Changing stations and turning it off. You can read more about the Wind Up Universal TV Remote at the Gizoo Website and it retails for about £20 or $38.

Warner has announced that this fall they will offer some discounted prices on select titles. A step in the right direction for sure. Consumers can expect to pay between $17 – $20 which may still be a little more expensive than your average DVD but much better than the $30 that they now cost. I don't really have a list of titles as of yet but I would assume that the lot would consist of older titles as well as some new ones. Stay tuned.

Samsung company has recently presented its newest achievement – demos 82” 2160p HDTV. The ultra-high definition LCD display that features a resolution of 3820×2160 pixels which results in a total screen resolution of 8.3 megapixels offers four times the resolution of today’s 1080p high definition TVs.

Thanks to the LED backlight that rounds off the screen it augments the contrast ratio and raises the color saturation to 150%. The display features a 120Hz screen refresh rate.

Sang Soo Kim, executive vice president of the LCD Technology Center at Samsung Electronics, hopes that the novelty will become “optimal display for future TVs”.
The price of this giant is not cleared yet, but it is not going to be low.

Good news for everybody that purchased a HD DVD player from Amazon prior to February 23rd. They have stepped up and are offering a $50 credit that is good through until April 9th, 2009. There are a few stipulations however, the credit cannot be used to pay for special-order titles, e-books or downloadable e-content, wireless service plans, gift certificates, gift-wrap, taxes, or shipping and handling charges.

Here is an exerpt from the email they sent out to buyers:

As someone who purchased an HD DVD player from us before February 23, 2008,* you might like to hear about a special offer available from Amazon.com.

New technologies don't always work out as planned. We at Amazon.com value our customer relationships more than anything and would like to support customers who purchased these players by offering a credit good for $50 off any products sold by Amazon.com. Just use promotional code XXX-XXX-XXX when checking out. The code is valid through April 9, 2009, so you have plenty of time to use your credit. Purchases from third-party merchants on our site are not eligible.

* On February 23, 2008, the last manufacturer of HD DVD players announced it was ceasing production of those players.
